The effects of wind farms in the North Sea

I was asked by Stichting de Noordzee to redesign their existing infographic on the effects of placing wind parks in the North Sea. Their existing infographic had an outdated design that did not meet their brand guidelines.

Process

1. Orientation – Interviews with experts at Stichting de Noordzee to understand the purpose and actual as well as desired usage of the infographic. Based on this, set up a list of user requirements.
2. Sketch – Sketch a rough design (on paper) in line with the requirements and collect feedback from client.
3. Design – Study brand guidelines and update the sketch to a full design along with these guidelines using Adobe Illustrator.
4. Reflection and solution – Not being a natural illustrator this was a little bit scary to me, but I looked for lots of inspiration of ocean-themed illustrations online and tried to mimic those rather than free-draw myself.
