COVID-19 in the Netherlands

Project description

This data visualization summarizes various COVID-19 metrics from the Netherlands between February 2020 and June 2021, namely the number of infections, hospitalizations, deaths and vaccination doses, as well as the various governmental measures that were imposed and lifted over time

Data was collected from RIVM, allecijfers.nl and Rijksoverheid. Chart was prototyped in RAWGraphs and the data visualization was realized using Adobe Illustrator.

Process

1. Data preparation – Combine the quantitative data from RIVM and allecijfers.nl with the qualitative data from Rijksoverheid into a single data file in Excel.
2. Prototyping & feedback gathering – Statistics are visualized through different charts, shapes, levels of granularity in Excel, RAWGraphs and Adobe Illustrator.
3. Data visualization – The chosen charts are pieced together following a common visual alphabet.
